We may not see notice it but plate tectonics actually have a "recycle" process. However, scientist reported that it happens in a span of 500 million years. Over the years, the oceanic crusts are pressured to the topmost layer of the mantle causing the oceanic crusts to melt and mix with the Earth's mantle. Such crust blending results to the formation of volcanoes underwater. In time, the said volcanoes would erupt causing the formation of new oceanic and continental crusts.

Plate tectonics facilitates the rock cycle continuously bringing molten rock up to the surface near divergent plate boundaries where they are added to the ocean floor or near Volcanoes while over several years near Subduction boundaries the old rock material will go under the overlying crust and sink under near the superheated magma where it will convert into molten rock and be re added to the Earth's magma layer from where it will be recycled under heat and pressure to form a new type of rock.
