A student crushes some calcium supplement tablets and dissolves them in water. The resulting solution feels slippery and has a slightly bitter taste. Are the supplement tablets most likely to be acids or bases?

    Acids and bases have opposite properties and have the ability to neutralize each other. Acids taste sour, g ive sharp stinging pain in a wound and r eact with metals to produce hydrogen gas.

    Bases t urn red litmus paper blue and acids t urn blue litmus paper red.
