Hydrogen burns in oxygen to produce water.

    a. 2H2 + O2 ⇒ 2H2O

    Now, we are going to calculate the mass of oxygen required to react with 10 g of hydrogen.

    b. First, we will convert the mass of hydrogen to the number of moles of hydrogen

    10 g H2 x (1 mol H2 / 2 g H2) = 5 mol H2

    Next, we will convert mol of H2 to mol of O2

    5 mol H2 x (1 mol O2 / 2 mol H2) = 2.5 mol O2

    And finally we will convert mol of O2 to its mass

    2.5 mol O2 x (32.0 g O2 / 1 mol O2) = 80 g of O2

    Therefore, the mass of oxygen is 80 g.
