9. Given the following reaction: 2NO (g) + O2 (g) → 2NO2 (g) How many liters of gaseous oxygen are needed

to produce 4.50 L of gaseous nitrogen dioxide, if both gases are being measured at STP?

    Explanation:

    2NO (g) + O2 (g) → 2NO2 (g)

    From the equation,

    1L of O2 produced 2L of NO2.

    Therefore, yL of O2 will produce 4.50L of NO2 ie

    yL of O2 = 4.50/2 = 2.25L

    Therefore, 2.25L of O2 are needed.
