Why do we crush solids before putting them into a solvent?

    If you didn't crush up the solid, then it would be harder to dissolve.

    Crushing the solute (solid) increases the surface area and makes the solute dissolve faster.

    This is totally because of the fact that larger the surface area, more quickly and easily they will dissolve. So we crush solids before putting them in solvent.
