Describe what happened to the concentration of ions in the urine when the PCO2 was raised?

a. Raising the carbon dioxide increases the acid potential and so the body has to get rid of H + ions in the urine. Therefore H + in the urine increased.

b. Raising the carbon dioxide decreases the acid potential and so the body has to retain H + ions in the blood. Therefore H + in the urine decreased

    Answer: Option A.

Raising the carbondioxide increases the acid potential and so the body has to get rid of H + ions in the in the urine.

Therefore, H + ion is increased.

    Explanation:

Partial pressure of carbondioxide show the amount of carbondioxide gas that is dissolved in the blood. It also reflect exchange of gas through the lungs to the outside air.

Increased in PCO2 is caused by pulmonary odema and lung disease. Due to high concentration of bicarbonate in the urine, large amount of carbonic acid is formed which dehydrated and forms water and carbondioxide, there by increase PCO2 of urinary. When carbondioxide increased, the acid potential that is the carbonic acid (H2Co3), when it is increased more hydrogen ion need to be excreted in the ion due to increase in Hydrogen ion in the ion.

    a.

    Explanation:

    The correct answer is:

    a. Raising the carbon dioxide increases the acid potential and so the body has to get rid of H + ions in the urine. Therefore H + in the urine increased.

Because in order to increase H + in the urine there must be a change in the acid potential, which is the way to get rid of the excess H + in the urine and this is achieved through the change to carbon dioxide, that there is an increase, if would have decreased, the H + in the urine would decrease, they keep an inverse proportion.
