The process in which a solid transforms into a liquid is called melting. This happens when the solid is so hot that it melts.

Explnganation:
Think of ice. It starts as a solid but as you add heat it turns to liquid. If you but plastic on a stove it turns into a hot liquid but when it cools it turns back to a solid.
