Can acidified potassium dichromate react with cyclohexene

    Dichromate is a very strong oxidizer. The reaction is oxidative cleavage of the double bond, is which opens the ring and forms two carboxylic acid groups on either end of it. The resulting compound is hexanedioic acid, common name adipic acid, which is used to make nylon.
