The characters that Huxley describes suffer from the programming that was ordered from the top, from birth they belong to the State domain, which to control them influence them how they should live. They have been conditioned to eliminate the ability to ask 'why', to criticize something, to think differently. They live guided by something that has become their instinct, like animals.
