Read the following paragraph and answer the question that follows.

An often quoted statistic is that although the United States has only 6 percent of the world's population, it uses more than 30 percent of the world's resources. This may be true, but another fact should be mentioned in conjunction. Though only one-tenth of a percent of the world's population works on United States farms, these farms feed more than 25 percent of the world's total population.

Which of the following generalizations is justified based on the facts given in the preceding paragraph?

(1) The United States wastes many of the world's resources.

(2) United States farmers are the most efficient in the world.

(3) The United States balances conspicuous consumption with effective production.

I believe that number 3 is the answer. Number 1 is not true because the passage says we just use a lot of resources; it doesnt say what they're used for so it's an opinion to call it wasting. Number 2 is also an opinion bc there are no factual comparisons to other farmers in the world. Number 3 is correct bc at the end of the paragaph it says that the US feeds 25% of the worlds population even if we use more resources. It shows a balance.
