    By believing that the Party invented airplanes, Julia shows readers that she accepts unthinkingly much of the Party's mythology. She cannot remember that Oceania was with Eastasia at war and not Eurasia, and barely understand who Goldstein was. It disturbs Winston that how effortlessly she accepts the Party's propaganda.
