What different interpretation of the Icarus myth does Jack Gilbert offer?

Poets and thinkers who interpret the Icarus myth usually have his downfall in mind, as well as the unreasonableness of his venture. Gilbert's poem says that it is worth considering that Icarus dared to fly in the first place. In Gilbert's opinion, it takes immense courage to take the sky.
