    Explanation:

    Metamorphic rocks are formed when the previously existing sedimentary, igneous or other metamorphic rocks are subjected to increasing pressure and heat conditions. For example, Quartzite, Schist, and Gneiss.

    On the other hand, Sedimentary rocks are defined as those rocks that are formed from the sedimentation and lithification of sediments. For example, Sandstone, Shale, and Limestone.

    These two rocks can be expected to occur near each other in a particular area after a long period of time by the process of uplifting and erosion. The metamorphic rocks sometimes gets uplifted due to the tectonic activity. As it is exposed on the surface, frequent weathering and erosion process occurs which disintegrates the rock and the broken materials are carried by the transporting agents such as wind, water, and ice, to the nearby areas. These sediments are again compacted and lithified after deposition and form sedimentary rocks.

    Thus, both the sedimentary and metamorphic rocks are found together after a definite period of time.
