The tempered or toughened glass are the type of safety glasses. These glasses are produced by the chemical or thermal treatments so as to increase the strength of the normal glass.

The outer surface of these glasses into compression and the inner surface are kept into tension.

These tempered glass are used in the surroundings of the windows of the automobiles (sidelite), and back window (or backlite).
