Andrew Jackson was considered to be a man of the people because he was the first American President who was not born into wealth. Jackson broke the mold of the wealthy, education, and eastern Presidents who had preceded trumpeting himself as a man of the common people who made himself and argued that education was not a requirement to succeed or lead politically.
