Why did jefferson list the violations in reverse order, putting the pursuit of happiness first

    Jefferson wanted the Declaration of Independence to have more of an impact. He listed the list of violations in reverse order because he felt that the more serious violations should be listed last to have a lasting impact on those that read the Declaration of Independence. Both liberty and life were slightly more serious offenses by the British.
