In 1681, King Charles II gave over an extensive bit of his American land property to Penn to mollify the obligations the ruler owed to Penn's dad. This land included present-day Pennsylvania and Delaware. Penn promptly set sail and ventured out American soil in New Castle in 1682 after his trans-Atlantic adventure. On this event, the homesteaders promised devotion to Penn as their new proprietor, and the primary general gathering was held in the state.
