What were Americans' essential attitudes toward education, professional learning, and higher forms of culture and science. Why were colonial newspapers and publications like Ben Franklin's "Poor Richard's Almanac" so popular?

    Americans supported development of education and things like Poor Richard's Almanac were widely read because they showed many enlightenment ideals and why it was important to be educated through various fictional stories that were often satirical. Harvard was opened even before numerous countries in Europe had high schools.
