    Alexander the Great expanded the borders of his Greek empire to the most of the known world at the time but he did not just conquer and collect tribute. Because of him Hellenization happened mainly because encouraged intermingling by allowing foreign people to serve with his soldiers and marriages between his soldiers and women of the peoples he conquered. He also opened schools to teach Greek language and culture.
