Who crossed the Alps to invade Rome from north during the Second Punic War?

    The answer is Hannibal.

    Hannibal was a Carthaginian warlord/general and is arguably one of the best generals in the history of war!

    According to remaining sources, he crossed the Alps with a big army and elephants as well. Needless to say, many of these have perished during their journey.

    The Romans even coined a phrase about Hannibal and his army "Hannibal ante portas" meaning "Hannibal is at the gates".
