    Option D.

    Explanation:

He was the political leader who negotiated for a major land purchase.

Peter Minuit was born in Germany. However, in the year 1625, he moved Germany to Holland to get a possible escape from the Catholic forces in Germany. Initially, he joined the corporation known as the Dutch West India Company. The very same year he went to New Netherland, a colony of Dutch, to make a search for-trade articles such as animal furs. In the year 1626, Minuit was designated the leader of the New Netherland province. During this time he made one of the most famous deals of his life, the purchase of Manhattan.
