Explanation:

Even though the first amendment does give individuals protected freedom of speech and press, it does not protect individuals who are threats to our nations national security. Any classified information leaked by the media could have significant global/international impacts. This is why any classified information that is leaked by a reporter can result in an individual being arrested.

An example of this is the NSA whistle blower Edward Snowden who is on an asylum in Russia for exposing the mass data surveillance of the NSA but is held on trial for treason.
