What led different groups of people, like the Isleños, being recruited by the Spanish to immigrate into Louisiana? The Spanish were sympathetic to the Isleños people, who were expelled from Spain and desperate to find a new place to settle. The Spanish wanted to increase the size of Louisiana's militia, and the Isleños were skilled soldiers. The Spanish recruited people from the Caribbean who had colonial experience and could improve the colony. The Spanish wanted to bring in more Spanish speaking families, like the Isleños, to carry on their traditions.
