    Some causes were economy, The southern economy depended on Cotton & Slave Labor

    Also, State rights Vs Federal Rights; The South wanted to be able to Nullify Federal acts.

    Slavery; Non slave states Vs Slave states & Abolishing Slavery in the North.

    And Last President Lincolns Election; Won the north becoming souths opponent having the country divided.

    Consequences were

    -physical damage to southern cities as well as plantations

    - Economically South Had difficult time recovering from war & some southern states remained at the bottom economically. Had Few Factories unlike the North

    - and Socially, Slaves were free but attempts to offer Blacks political and economic benefits were threatened by the rise of the Klu Klux Klan, changing political Climate.
