Soon there was an escalation of the conflict with the outbreak of other riots and civil unrest along the Gangetic plain and central India.

2 - The British Raj was instituted on June 28, 1858, when after the Indian rebellion of 1857, the territorial possessions of the British East India Company were transferred to the Crown, then held by Queen Victoria.
