    The main argument used by anti-federalists in the debates over the ratification of the Constitution of the United States was that it failed to protect individual rights and threatened liberties. They argued that a centralized government would end being too similar to Great Britain's despotic rule; also that such centralized government would threaten the sovereignity of the different states.
