Describe the structure of a cell membrane.

Cell membranes are primarily made of phospholipids, which make up the basic structure of the membrane, called the lipid bilayer. The membrane fluid is consistent because of the cholesterol molecules in the bilayer. Substances are transported across the cell membrane by membrane proteins.
