    He quotes the Roman poet Horace. Many of Owen's poems are dripping with anger and scorn. He is angry with the rulers of Europe and leaders of the military because of promulgating, beginning and continuing past reason for world war.

    Owen is angry that they waste men who are young by feeding them with specious patriotism and not caring and lies. He is angry that young men can lie about their enlist and ages.

    He is being frustrated by women because they prefer to live placidity and ignorance. Owen is critically on politicians and poets who proclaim that their war is glorious for him "Dulce et Decorum est"
