How did the Inca emperor send messages to officials in distant places?

The Inca empire as well as the Roman possessed an ingenious system of communication and transportation, the cities were connected by gigantic well-aligned and organized roads, the largest of which was 1,600 km long and linked the capital of the empire (Cuzco) to Quito, another city of great importance to the people. For the transmission of messages, the Incas used the Chucla, a name given to small houses built on the side of the road where the messengers called Chaquis lived. They were trained to be sprinters because the messages were spoken orally to the emperor, and they did everything with precision, since a mistake would result in a great catastrophe and a severe punishment.
