Why did james i decide to revoke the virginia company's charter and turn the settlement into a royal colony in 1624?

    Because important American document that permitted English settlers in America to have the same rights as the English in England; this encouraged more Englishmen to travel to the new settlement in Jamestown, established in 1607, and later frustrated the colonists into rebellion during the American Revolution.
