Well, there was no funding for WAR. It was more of competition.

It affected the U. S economy because the U. S was trying to prevent communism to spread in the East and Europe cause of the domino effect. So what happened during the domino effect was that U. S sent supply and aid to various countries so the countries would favor the U. S more.
