President Wilson withdrew the American troops from Mexico in 1917 because he was concerned about world war 1 raging in Europe. Wilson was the 28th democratic president of America who served from 1913 to 1921. He had different views on events in Mexico than he did his predecessor, he believed in the sovereignty of popular will and therefore did not recognize the illegitimate regime of Victoriano Huerta.
