Napoleon Bonaparte was a war hero, first and foremost. He won campaigns all across Europe, and even in Egypt, at times when all the odds said he shouldn't win. On top of that, he reformed Revolutionary France, turning it from a terror state to a continental superpower, bringing much wealth and commerce to the nation. There's also the set of laws he created, the Code Napoleon, which is still used as the basis for law in most European countries
