Examine laws 196 and 199. How do you think Hammurabi would justify the different punishment for the same crime?

    Although in the modern world it may seem like the same law, back in Hammurabi's age, slaves were not treated on equal as their masters. This is why law 196 dictates that the punishment for putting out the eye of a man but law 199 states that only half the punishment is given if people do the same to slaves. In the olden days, slaves were only considered half of their masters.
