    W - the width

    l - the length

    P = 6984

    P = 2w + 2l

    l = 3w

    substitute

    2w + 2 · 3w = 6984

    2w + 6w = 6984

    8w = 6984 |:8

    w = 873

    l = 3 · 873 = 2619

    Answer: the length = 2619 and the width = 873
