    Area of cake: 15 x 15 = 225 square inches

    piece of cake: 2 1/5 x 2 1/5 = 4.84 square inches

    225 / 4.84 = 46.49

so 46 whole pieces can be cut

When doing this problem, the main thing that we would practically be doing is to multiply the numbers by it's self.

we would do 15 by 15, and therefore, that would leave us with, 255.

And then, as we would do the pieces of the cake, we would then also have to multiply 2 1/5 by it's self also.

And that would leave us with 4.84.

And then, by considering this, we would then have to divide these both.

    4.84 by 255.

And therefore, that would leave us with 46 whole pieces.
