    ∴ y = - 1

    - Substitute the value of y in equation (1)

    ∴ 6x + 7 (-1) = 5

    ∴ 6x - 7 = 5

    - Add 7 to both sides

    ∴ 6x = 12

    - Divide both sides by 6

    ∴ x = 2
