The Associative Property allows you to "regroup" addition and multiplication problems. You can group this problem in two other ways,
(8 + 4) + 3 and (8 + 3) + 4.

The associative property states that (a + b) + c = a + (b + c)
8 + (3 + 4) can be written as (8 + 3) + 4 using the associative property.
The associative property of addition basically says that you can add 3 or more numbers in whichever order.
