a spool of ribbon contains 8 feet of ribbon. how many pieces of ribbon can be cut from from the spool if each piece is to be two-thirds of a foot?

    2/3=0.66666 so two-thirds of a foot is 0.66666 feet which is about 8 inches.

    There are 96 inches in 8 feet because 8*12=96

    Then divide 96 inches by 8 inches. That leaves you with 12 inches.

    You would cut a section every 12 inches. That would be 8 cuts.

    The answer is 8 sections each being 12 inches.
