The y variable in both equations are opposites. So, we can add the two systems together to eliminate y and solve for x.
-4x + y = - 10
6x - y = 16
2x = 6
2 * 3 = 6.
x = 3. Now we have to solve for y. Let's use 6x - y = 16.
6 (3) - y = 16
18 - y = 16
18 - 2 = 16, so y = 2.
x = 3
y = 2.
Or if you have to put it in coordinate form: (3, 2)
