Robbie loves playing fetch with his dog, Spencer. Spencer starts by

sitting beside Robbie. After Robbie throws the ball, Spencer runs to get the ball,

and he brings it back. Robbie throws the ball 3 times. On the 1st throw, Robbie

throws the ball 8 meters. On the 2nd throw, Robbie throws the ball twice as far.

On the 3rd throw, Robbie throws the ball 5 meters less than the second throw.

How far does Spencer run in total?

The third throw was 5 meters less than the second throw, so 16-5=11. Now you add everything together, 8+16+11, which would equal 35 meters. You are not finished yet, you also have to account for spencer's run back, which means you have to multiply 35 by 2, so in the end you would have gotten that spencer ran 70 meters.
