    We will be expressing the equation in vertex form:

    y = a (x - h) ² + k, where the vertex is (h, k)

    y = - 2 (x² - x + 1/2)

    y = - 2 (x² - x + 1/4 - 1/4 + 1/2)

    y = - 2 (x² - 1/2) - 1/2

    Vertex = (1/2, - 1/2)

    Axis of symmetry: x = 1/2
