The equation we'd use here would be 50+6-9x = 0, or just 56-9x = 0.

To solve:

56-9x = 0 (add 9x to both sides)

56 = 9x (divide both sides by 9)

6.2 = x

It would take approximately 6.2 days for all of those puppies to be adopted.
