An exponent changes the whole number overall. Exponents have a big effect on the solution because it intensely multiplied the number by itself multiple times. For example, 726165 to the zero power would equal 1. That is a huge change and would change the overall solution. Multiplying the number by itself caused a huge change, changing the way the exponent would be too. negatives in an exponent are also important too, easily changing the solution quickly.
