What is standard algorithms

In elementary arithmetic, a standard algorithm is a specific method of computation which is conventionally taught for solving particular mathematical problems.

So basically it is just a way of solving math problems. We use the method of pi to solve for the circumference or area of a circle. This is an example of an algorithm.
