A rectangular field measures 10 yards by 24 yards. What is the distance, d, from one corner to the opposite corner?

    Using the Pythagorean theorem to solve this, d=26, here's how.

    a^2+b^2=c^2

    plug in the numbers you already have

    10^2+24^2=d^2

    100+578=676

    676=d^2

    take the square root of that

    √676=26

    d=26
