    The equation will be 2.05+.90x=5.65

    X equals each mile so we need to get x alone to find how many miles the trips was.

    First subtract 2.05 from both sides of the equation.

    0.90x=3.60

    Then divide both sides by 0.90

    x=4

    The trip was four miles.

    So you do,

    5.65-2.05 which is 3.6

    Then 3.6/.90 which is 4 miles/.
