This is a disjunction problem using "or". When you solve the first one, you have to flip the sign to less than because you are dividing by a negative number. Doing this gives you x-1. Graphing that on a number line is an open circle at - 7 and includes all the values to the left of - 7, and graphing the other one on the same number line is an open circle at - 1 and includes all the values to the right of - 1. The word "or" is used because they do not share any solutions.
