In a set of three lines, a pair of parallel lines is intersected by a transversal. The intersection forms eight special angles. Two of the special angles, angles A and B, are corresponding angles.

For the set of parallel lines intersected by a transversal, angle A=4x and B=-5 (x-18).

Part A: Write an equation to represent the corresponding relationship between angle A and angle B.

Part B: Use the equation to find the measures of angle A and B.

    Correspondent angles are angles in parallel lines, intersected by a transversal and they are equivalent.

    Part A:

    Equation is: A=B

    4 x = - 5 (x - 18)

    Part B:

    We solve this equation:

    4 x = - 5 x + 90

    4 x + 5 x = 90

    9 x = 90

    x = 90: 9 = 10 (degrees)

    Measure of angle A = 4 * 10 = 40 (degrees)

    Measure of angle B = - 5 (10 - 18) = (-5) * (-8) = 40 (same as angle A)
