    Let x be the number.

    x-x²=2/9, so 9x-9x²=2 or 9x²-9x+2=0 = (3x-2) (3x-1). Therefore x=2/3 or 1/3.

    Check: 2/3-4/9=6/9-4/9=2/9 and 1/3-1/9=3/9-1/9=2/9.
